CLAUDIO RANIERI has kicked off the mind games ahead of the new season by claiming all the pressure is on his title rivals.
Ranieri steered Leicester to a shock title triumph last season but admits absolutely no one expects them to do it again.
Instead he says all eyes will be on Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte to achieve instant success at their new clubs.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all spending big in a bid to avoid a repeat of last season’s shocking failures in the league.
“For this reason they must win,” said Ranieri.
“Everything’s different now. You imagine the big teams who didn’t win … who didn’t make the Champions’ League.
“They are going crazy now – they want to kill now. Not just us but all the other teams.
“They have new managers, fantastic managers. Antonio Conte is fantastic …. Jose, everybody knows Jose.
“Mourinho can be the new Ferguson, He will not stay 26 years, but he will leave his imprint.” “Pep Guardiola is an amazing person and a good manager.
“Antonio and Chelsea are made for each other. Guardiola seems to be the right man in the right place.”
“I’m laughing because at the end only one will win. And the pressure is not on me, it’s on them.”
Chelsea signed Leicester midfielder N’Golo Kante for £30m at the weekend while Ranieri spent just over half that to break The Foxes’ transfer record to sign striker Ahmed Musa.
But he insists buying big names isn’t the only way to achieve success.
“I don’t just watch the quality of the players, I try to see the quality of the man to come here,” he said.
“Our strength is the union, the community, the spirit.
“If you make one mistake it is okay, two mistakes the group is not good.
“It is like when you eat something you are allergic too, once it is okay the second you are sick.”
