COULD Steven Gerrard be on his way back to Liverpool?
BACK SOON? Gerrard poses with Can... who wrote a cryptic message with the pic
The Kop legend, 36, has spent time with his old team-mates on their pre-season tour of America.
Hardly surprising, though, given he spent 17 years at the club.
But it’s a cryptic Instagram post from Emre Can that will leave Liverpool fans wondering.
Can posted a picture of Gerrard and his pals and wrote: “Great to see the Captain. Soon. Back. #ynwa #liverpool #EC23 #SG8.”
The “soon” and “back” appeared on emojis included in the post.
Gerrard posted the same picture on his Instagram and wrote: “Great to catch up with @ec2323 and his boys #LA us.”
Gerrard signed an 18-month deal with LA Galaxy in January 2015 but is currently sidelined through injury.
He missed the Galaxy’s 2-1 win over Portland Timbers last weekend but could feature against Seattle Sounders on Sunday.
Gerrard’s long-term future is uncertain, though.
He’s found it hard to cope with the long away trips in America and is weighing up moving back home with his wife Alex.
The former midfielder has trained with Jurgen Klopp’s side in the MLS off-season but this week refused to confirm he’s coming back.
He said: “People need to understand that Jurgen Klopp is his own man, he’s got his own team of people around him, that he is very happy and content with.
"There’s no future decision to work with Klopp, I get on really well with him, we’re in contact but there’s no job opportunity there at the moment.
“There’s nothing for me to say on the matter really, only that I’m a big fan of him. I hope he brings success back to Liverpool next season and I’ll be supporting him from over here.
“If I had something to say I wouldn’t keep supporters waiting.”
Liverpool take on Chelsea at the Rose Bowl tomorrow in their first pre-season friendly of the tour.
