LIVERPOOL have been slapped with a £13,400 fine by Uefa.
Police intervention was required to stop scuffles between both sets of fans, who shared one end of the stadium with a small steward presence at the ground.
UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has punished the club for the behaviour of fans at Basle’s St Jakob-Park Stadium in the 3-1 defeat to the Spanish side.
A statement on Uefa’s website outlined the charges and penalties for both clubs.
Match: UEFA Europa League 2015/16, final between Liverpool FC – Sevilla FC (1-3) played on 18 May in Switzerland.
Charges against Liverpool FC:
- Crowd disturbances - Art. 16 (2) DR
- Setting off of fireworks - Art. 16 (2) DR
Charges against Sevilla FC:
- Crowd disturbances - Art. 16 (2) DR
- Throwing of objects - Art. 16 (2) DR
Decision – Liverpool FC:
• To fine Liverpool FC €16,000 (£13,400) for the illicit banner and the setting of fireworks.
Decision – Sevilla FC:
• To fine Sevilla FC €17,000. (£14,200)
