CESC FABREGAS has apologised for his dangerous challenge on Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan, according to Jurgen Klopp.
Chelsea beat the Reds 1-0 in their International Champions Cup clash in Los Angeles but the fixture will be remembered for Fabregas' horror tackle.
The Spanish midfielder was dismissed with 20 minutes remaining at the Rose Bowl Stadium for a late lunge on new signing Klavan, which left the Estonia international writhing in agony.
Klopp said: "It's a red card and I hope it's not a mentality issue. He (Fabregas) came in the dressing room and said sorry, he came too late in the challenge.
"Sometimes in life if you are too late then you get a red card. That's how it was. It was just a knock for Klavan. I think he will be okay."

Chelsea's official Twitter account also claim Conte has echoed Fabregas' apology.
They tweeted: "On the red-card tackle, Conte says he is sorry for Cesc Fabregas and sorry for the Liverpoolplayer."
