MAMADOU SAKHO has been sent home from Liverpool's pre-season tour.

The French defender has an Achilles injury and will miss the start of the season.

But it is thought a disciplinary issue is behind the decision for Sakho to return to Merseyside.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Sakho's attitude around the Reds' training camp in California has caused concern.
The 26-year-old was booked on the same flight as left-back Brad Smith, who is travelling to Bournemouth for a medical ahead of his £6m move.

Liverpool have declined to explain why Sakho has been sent back early.
It is the latest blow for Sakho, who recently found out he need not have missed the Europa League finals or France's Euro 2016 campaign after UEFA cleared him of a doping violation.

He was found to have failed a drugs test following the Europa League clash with Manchester United in March and was initially suspended for 30 days.
The substance was believed to be a fat burning product but Sakho's legal team argued at a hearing earlier this month that it should not have been on the banned list.
