STARSPORT brings you the latest news coming out of Anfield.
The Wales international is poised to sign the deal ahead of a loan move to Huddersfield.
Ward, 23, ended last season as Simon Mignolet's deputy but the arrival of Loris Karius has pushed him back down the pecking order.
But Liverpool still see him as a big part of their future and have looked to secure him to the long-term deal.
Liverpool have received numerous loan offers for their young players but Jurgen Klopp will take his time deciding whether to let any leave, the Liverpool Echo report.
The likes of Brad Smith, Ryan Kent, Pedro Chirivella, Connor Randall and Kevin Stewart are all attracting attention from Football League clubs.
Klopp said last season that he thought it was better that young players stayed at the club to develop at Under-21 level but the Echo say that his stance has softened since.
The report states that the German wants to keep his best youngsters for the start of pre-season but may allow them to leave on loan following the tour of the USA.
The Belgian is set to leave Anfield after only one season having failed to make an impact after his £32.5m arrival from Aston Villa.
He is eager to move to Selhurst Park, although Palace and Liverpool are yet to agree a fee as the Reds look to recoup what they paid on the 25-year-old.
However, all parties are said to be optimistic a deal will be completed this week.
