FC Astana 1 Celtic 1: Late Leigh Griffiths equaliser saves the day

LEIGH GRIFFITHS' late equaliser helped Celtic to a commendable draw in their Champions League third qualifying round, first-leg tie with FC Astana.
VITAL: Griffiths smashed home the equaliser
The striker smashed home from the edge of the box with 12 minutes remaining in Kazakhstan to take a draw back to Celtic Park.
In his third competitive game in charge, Brendan Rodgers' side were 1-0 down after just 19 minutes of the game.
Kazakhstan international Yuri Logvinekno's header beat Craig Gordon from a corner.
Rodgers' makeshift defence, which included Eoghan O'Connell on his European debut, were struggling to keep the opposition out.
But goalkeeper Gordon made a string of saves, especially from long distance efforts, to keep his side in the leg.
Celtic weren't at their best but managed to have enough resistance in the bag to draw level.

Griffiths was picked out by Patrick Roberts and without hesitation he rifled his shot past Nenad Eric in the Astana goal.
The away goal could prove extremely vital when Astana make the trip to Glasgow next Wednesday.
