LIVERPOOL have just signed an Arsenal fan in the same mould as Mats Hummels, according to the people who know him best.
The 30-year-old defender has been drafted in as cover for Jurgen Klopp's injury-hit defence and brings a wealth of experience with him.
But what kind of player have Liverpool signed and what will he bring to Anfield?
Starsport spoke to Madis Kalvet, a reporter from Estonian daily newspaper Postimees, to find out a bit more about Liverpool's latest recruit.
What is his style of play?
Madis Kalvet: He started he’s career as a left winger and then he played as a left back. In the national team he played as a left back until 2012.
He has good technical skills. He is very confident with the ball and he can open up a game with his good passes.
He is also a very good playmaker, he showed that in the Europa League games against Liverpool.
Because he was a winger/left back he wasn't very good in the air at first, but in recent years he has developed a lot in that area. He is also left-footed and that is viewed as a good sign.
MK: Maybe when you compare him to someone at the absolute top level then he has similarities to Mats Hummels.
Klavan is very calm and doesn't lose his head on the pitch. He has good technique and is good on the ball. In good games he may be quite invisible, because he doesn't usually make mistakes.
Can he adapt to the Premier League?
MK: I think he can because he is technically good and in Germany his physical condition has improved a lot.
So far I have read that Liverpool look at him as a fifth central defender and I think he sees it as a challenge.
If he has to sit on the bench then this is not going to break him and he is able to put together solid performances when needed.
Will he fit in with Liverpool's style?
MK: I think so. Jurgen Klopp is a trainer who demands hard work and concentration and for that Klavan is the right player.
Klavan is a good team player and right now Liverpool is looking for players like him. It seems like Klopp doesn't shop for superstars, but he wants players who he can trust and who have the certain qualities that he is looking for.
How does Estonian football view him?
MK: He is the captain of the national team and he is the Estonian who plays at the highest level right now. I would say that he is also one of the most popular athletes in Estonia.
Right now he has shown that Estonians can play football at the highest level and he is an inspiration for a lot of young Estonian footballers.
MK: For Estonian football it's great, because the Premier League is the most popular and competitive league in the world and it's great we have a player there.
Liverpool and Manchester United are the most popular English clubs in Estonia so for Estonian Liverpool fans it's great.
Klavan has said in the past that his favourite club in England is Arsenal, but I think now all Estonians are Liverpool fans.
