LIVERPOOL are on the brink of confirming the signing of veteran keeper Alex Manninger.

The 39-year-old has been training with with Jurgen Klopp's team after leaving German side Augsburg.
Adam Bodgan and Danny Ward's departures have opened up a slot as third choice behind Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
And the Liverpool Echo report that a one-year deal should be announced in the next 24 hours.
Manninger flew with the squad to the US yesterday for their pre-season tour and he could play against Chelsea next week.
The Austrian is no stranger to the Premier League after spending five years at Arsenal.
He joined the Gunners in 1997 and was part of their 1998 double-winning squad.
But Manninger has taken in a host of clubs since leaving north London including Espanyol, Torino, Bologna, Siena, Red Bull Salzburg, Udinese and Juventus.
He joined last club Augsburg in 2012 but managed just 38 appearances in four years.
Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will undergo a medical today ahead of a move to Anfield.
The Magpies have accepted a bid in the region of £25m for the Holland international.
