DRAMATIC footage shows the moment an innocent Muslim man was mistaken for an Islamic State terrorist by police.
The Arab man was taken to the floor by officers who mistook him for a member of ISIS.
Police were responding to information from a receptionist at the hotel he was staying at in Ohio, USA, that businessman Ahmed Al-Menhali had links to the terror group.
But the traveller was reportedly only in the US seeking medical help for several health conditions.
Officers have since apologised to the man who they handcuffed and pinned to the ground after the tip-off.
ERROR: Police tackle the man to the ground before putting him in handcuffs
“The male did not, in fact, make any statements related to ISIS," police said.
In the footage – caught on a police body camera – cops appear to tackle Al-Menhali, who is dressed in traditional Arabic clothing.
Officers approached him with guns drawn, according to a police statement.
Bryan Jensen, the Mayor of Avon, Ohio, said: “We certainly feel bad about the whole situation.
“It’s unfortunate that it took place."
MISTAKE: Police have apologised for the mistake
He added: “I think for us it’s a good educational tool moving forward and will hopefully strengthen our relationship.
“We feel like he did everything right and if it wasn’t for his reactions and the things that happened, I think the outcome could have been much worse and it could have been tragic.”
The arrest has become an international incident and the UAE has demanded an apology for the "abusive treatment" of one of their citizens.
The UAE are now warning people travelling abroad not to wear traditional garments.
