LIVERPOOL midfielder Lucas Leiva is open to a move to Besiktas, reports in Turkey claim.
ENCOURAGING TALKS: Lucas Leiva is said to be open to joining Besiktas
The Brazilian is the Reds' longest-serving player having been signed by Rafael Benitez from Gremio in 2007 but his future at the club is uncertain.
Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Besiktas have made an enquiry for the 29-year-old, who admitted last week he could leave Anfield this summer.
And they say that initial talks between the Turkish champions and Lucas' agent have been encouraging.
Lucas came close to leaving last summer - with Besiktas interested at the time - before enjoying a revival under Jurgen Klopp but he has found playing time limited in 2016.
He started just eight times in the league after the turn of the year and he admitted he may find opportunities more limited as Jurgen Klopp adds to his squad.
“It is the first transfer window that Klopp will participate in more actively in for Liverpool, so I’ll have a better idea when I return [for pre-season],” he told Radio Jovem Pan.
“Whatever happens, the idea, as always, is to remain in Europe, mainly in England, which has a very strong and good league to play in.”
Lucas was behind Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, James Milner and Joe Allen in the pecking order while Klopp has already added Marko Grujic to his squad.
