CHELSEA’S American tour ended with tattered shirts but victory as two late goals from Oscar ensured victory in the US Bank Stadium.
The inaugural match in the amazing one billion dollar futuristic stadium in front of 68,101 fans, saw Antonio Conte’s team make it two wins out of three in the International Champions Cup before they head home to England to continue their preparations for the start of the Premier League season.
Brazilian Oscar – a £30 million target for AC Milan’s bitter rivals Inter this summer - grabbed one goal from the penalty spot and another with a late strike that just might give manager Conte food for thought.
Diego Costa made his first appearance of the tour after all the speculation over his future, and ended up having to change his shirt after it was almost ripped off his back by the Milan defence.
Strike partner Bertrand Traore also had his new kit ripped – but he donned a new one in time to nod Chelsea into the lead when Victor Moses’ shot could only be parried by Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian side levelled six minutes before half-time when Willian gave away a free-kick just outside the area, and Giacomo Bonaventura curled a glorious strike into the corner.
Conte gave new signing N’Golo Kante his debut in the second half as both side threw on a host of substitutes, and the breakthrough came in the 69th minute, when Eden Hazard crossed and Andrea Poli handled.
