DONE DEAL: Jon Flanagan has joined Burnley on loanThe full-back is being allowed to leave Anfield by Jurgen Klopp in order to play regular first-team football.A Liverpool statement read: "Liverpool can today confirm that Jon Flanagan has joined Burnley on a season-long loan deal."The 23-year-old full-back, who signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in March, will spend the 2016-17 campaign at Turf Moor.
"Academy graduate Flanagan returned to action in January after 20 months on the sidelines and made his 50th first-team appearance for Liverpool in the final Premier League game of last season at West Bromwich Albion."Flanagan broke through during Liverpool's title challenge during the 2013/14 season but he suffered a serious knee injury in the summer of 2014 which forced him to miss the next 20 months of football before returning to action in January. He made eight appearances last season as Klopp managed his return but he is now fully fit and ready for regular action. But, with Nathaniel Clyne established as Klopp's first-choice right-back, the German could not guarantee the 23-year-old first-team football on Merseyside.
Flanagan was left out of Liverpool's squad for their recent pre-season tour of the USA as he evaluated his options. However, Klopp still sees the once capped England international as part of his long-term plans. Flanagan signed a new contract in March which runs until 2019
