ADVANTAGE: Arsene Wenger says Chelsea and Liverpool will benefit from their light schedules
The two clubs are free from the distractions of European football and the Arsenal boss reckons that will play into their hands.
Speaking at the Premier League launch, he told Sky Sports: "Yes, they are not in the Europa League so that will be an advantage for them."
Leicester stunned English football by winning the title last season and Wenger thinks up to eight clubs could triumph this time round.
He said: "That’s very difficult to predict and is one of the problems in the modern Premier League, who expected Leicester to be champions last season? Nobody.
"Today you have to take into account seven or eight teams who can win it.
"You always have a surprising team and then six or seven big clubs who have the ambition to win it."
The Premier League boasts some of the world's best managers with Pep Guardiola arriving at Manchester City and Antonio Conte taking over at Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho is back at Manchester United while Jurgen Klopp is preparing for his first full season at Liverpool.
Wenger, who took over at Arsenal in 1996, said: "The Premier League is the most powerful, the most attractive and maybe the most popular in the world – every manager thinks ‘if I want to be recognised as a top manager, I have to go for the Premier League’."
