Arsenal and Chelsea have both been tipped as possible destinations but Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo say Liverpool are also keen on a deal.
And they go so far as to claim that the Reds have made their interest in the 25-year-old known to the La Liga giants.
However, Real president Florentino Perez does not expect Liverpool to be able to pay their asking price.
Rodriguez moved to the European champions in 2014 for a fee that could reach £71m and Mundo Deportivo claim Real want to recoup at least £51m in any sale.
Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing six players for a combined fee of £67.9m.
Jurgen Klopp has been remaining coy on whether any more new faces would arrive at the club before next week's deadline.
