YES, that scoreline is correct.
MAIN MANE: Sadio Mane celebrates his first Liverpool goal which opened the scoring
Liverpool gave themselves the perfect boost for the new season by outclassing the world club champions.
The outstanding Sadio Mane and subs Jordan Henderson, Divock Origi and Marko Grujic were on target as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and the rest were humbled in the International Champions Cup in front of a sell-out attendance of 89,845 – the second highest at the new Wembley.
Now for Arsenal at The Emirates a week today when the serious stuff really starts.
Liverpool, with England striker Daniel Sturridge left out because of a slight hip injury, went ahead in the 15th minute.
The sloppy Spanish champions were punished when £30m Mane lashed the ball home right-footed after a neat build-up involving Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana.
Messi did hit the post then Liverpool skipper James Milner, playing at left-back, produced a vital interception to deny Arda Turan.
The positional experiment involving midfielder Milner, who has just retired from England duty, lasted 42 minutes before he came off injured.
A minute later Suarez was denied an equaliser against his former club when keeper Simon Mignolet made a fine block.
Then Henderson and Origi came on at half-time to stun Barca. Henderson was credited with bundling in a Mane cross in the 47th minute, although Barca defender Javier Mascherano looked to get the last touch.
And 60 seconds later Origi burst through to shoot through the legs of substitute keeper Claudio Bravo.
Grujic completed the rout with a fine header in the final minute.
